Thank you for giving me the opportunity to create an elegant yet comfortable room for your family!

The design directive I used to develop the spatial concept was to create a single livable zone that emphasized the symmetrical architectural features of the room. Addressing the pair of overhead chandeliers created the biggest furniture placement challenge. They are a large focal point in the room and feel very far apart for a single living zone, but also too close together to effectively plan two separate living zones.

My solution was to find an elegant and classic horizontal chandelier that provided a substantial amount of light but may be placed on a dimmer for ambient lighting. The adjustable chain length allows the fixture to be installed high enough to allow people to walk underneath but still anchors the zone.

Pulling the pair of leather apartment size sofas wide enough to still have relationship to the hanging fixtures created a large empty space in the center area. My solution is to utilize a trio of bunching cocktail tables. I love using cluster tables in rooms because they are easily moved to accommodate entertaining the varying heights allows the tables to nestle close together. Using the group together also grounds the area without feeling heavy and overwhelming. I love the minimalist legs on this set as well as it keeps the area light and airy with plenty of room for the eye to travel.

The end tables are incredibly functional with two shelves for either display or stacks of books. The ferrules (gold-colored end caps) are in keeping with the other tables and our mix of metals. There is a pull-out shelf that adds an element of surprise and the warmth of the finish relates to the warm, natural washed leather on the sofa.

I added a pair of ottomans to the furniture plan for additional seating for game nights pulled around the cocktail tables. A pair of ottomans like these upholstered in faux sherpa with a nailhead detail add the perfect amount of visual interest and repetition of pattern.

Mahogany 2 drawer chests on either side of the front facing window add much needed stashed away storage and balance the visually heavy kitchen end of the room. I particularly love the way this pair echoes the tufting pattern found on the sofa.

I created with this room design a layered effect of texture and repetitive pattern that allows the room to read as maximalist without being overly busy, too trendy or overwhelmingly bright and colorful. I would describe it as tailored, yet elegant. The finishes are classic and timeless without being stuffy or unapproachable. I worked within the current Valspar Soulful Grey, which is a lovely warm grey tone.

PROJECT UPDATE

WEEKLY PROJECT PROGRESS:

DEC. 17,2020 So far, everything is going along as expected! All items have been ordered and confirmed by the vendors. You will receive a few items shipped directly to your home and tracking numbers will be provided as they are released. Expect these items be shipped directly to your home:

  • Area Rug

  • Wallpaper

  • Window treatments and drapery hardware.

Please inspect these items as they are delivered. Check the exterior packaging and refuse delivery if excessive visible damage is present that may represent damage to interior products, however, this is unlikely.

Payment has been applied to your invoice and a remainder of $3000 is due.

My office will be closed 12/23/2020 - 1/2/2021 However I will be reading and replying to emails.

Happy Holidays!

Jan 1. 2021 The next step in your project is having your wallpaper installed by Matt of Big Sky Wallpapering. He will arrive between 8-8:30 on Jan 3rd and will likely be finished by 2pm. Please plan to observe social distancing while Matt is installing.

Once the wallpaper has been installed, you may go ahead and unroll your rug. It will take a week to 10 days to fully relax into the space, low humidity can contribute to curled corners and edges - just give them extra time to relax.

When everything is received, we will schedule an installation date. The only other items that will ship to you are the window treatments and hardware. The hardware will arrive before the drapes.

Everything is going along exactly as planned, which is GOOD! I’m excited about your paper installation!

Jan. 7. 2021 SHIPPING NOTIFICATIONS:

  • Window treatments are in production and are scheduled to ship from the workroom the week of 1/29/21.

  • Kitchen area pendants, pair of chests, ottomans, and lamps all scheduled to ship from the manufacturer week of 1/11/21

  • Mirror and large chandeliers scheduled to ship from the manufacturer week of 1/22/21

All items will be shipped to my receiver and delivered at once - unless there are any significant shipping delays with a product which would result in storage fees. In that case, items already received would be scheduled for delivery to avoid any additional fees.

Week of Jan 11.2021 notifications:

  • Window treatment hardware has shipped from the warehouse via UPS. Scheduled to be delivered by Thursday 9:00 pm 1/14/21 Tracking:1ZF1717Y0375886153

  • Pillow Fabric shipped to (but not yet received by) Workroom for production

  • All items are otherwise in production. Nothing is back-ordered or experiencing logistical issues (at this moment - but we should cross our fingers)

  • Window treatment hardware delivered 6:47 Thursday 1/14/21.

Week of Jan 25.2021 notifications:

  • Window Treatments scheduled to ship from Oklahoma.

  • Window treatments received by client.

Week of Feb 1 notifications:

  • Contacted Window Treatment installer to make aware of pending installation and get on schedule radar. Please forward a few best times/days for installation - preferably morning appointments

  • Custom pillows are finished and have been received by me. I will be bringing them to installation day.

  • Pair of leather sofas are pending arrival at the receiver. I will be headed to inspect them after they arrive.

  • Small accessory items - like lamps and mirror are en route.

  • Tables appear to be scheduled to ship from the manufacturer mid March

  • I don’t like to give the “thumbs up” sign on products received until I have a chance to inspect them as occasionally damage happens during transit and any repairs or replacements necessary will have to be addressed before signing off for product delivery.

  • I know you don’t really have any seating in your living room currently. If you would like to have the pair of sofas delivered separately, I can make that arrangement for an additional fee. The Room Plan purchased included one scheduled delivery. I would be happy to make arrangements for the sofas and pillows to be delivered early.

Tracking information

Week of Feb 28 notifications:

  • Notification of delivery of three items to Home Delivery this afternoon. (3/5) Their office is closed so I will have to wait until Monday to learn what items they are. I’m speculating it’s the set of 3 Bunching tables.

  • Pair of white Ottomans received.

  • Items from last week in transit received but will need to be inspected. I plan to do that next week and will report back and potentially set up for delivery of the completed portion of the order - if the outstanding items are going to be a while.

Week of March 8 notifications:

  • I had a chance to look at the products received and I need to have a minor repair made. It isn't a significant enough mark that would merit rejection of the piece. Given product lead times, I'm making a judgment call to have the repair made locally.

Even in pre-covid "normal times" minor marks occur during transportation. So this situation isn't out of the ordinary and frankly, I'm pleasantly surprised! But since we still have an outstanding shipment of the tables, I don't want to jinx it.

  • Next week I'll be getting a lead time for your large delivery (minus the coffee and end tables)

Week of March 15 notification:

  • Communication via email regarding product flaw and delivery schedule

Week of March 22 notifications:

  • Confirmation that manufacturer flawed chests cannot be repaired locally. They will be replaced by the vendor. All additional fees for shipping and receiving will be accepted by RLP interiors.

  • Confirmation that pair of table lamps and coffee table bunching set has shipped from vendor to receiver. No tracking provided. Estimate 7-10 business days. This will complete receipt of the original order, does not include replacement chests. Would you like to hold off your Room Plan delivery to include the coffee tables and end tables? Or would you prefer to keep the scheduled delivery for the pair of sofas, lighting, mirror, lamps, pillows, and ottomans for Monday, March 29 between 1-3 pm?

Week of April 5 notifications:

  • Replacement request for light fixtures and bulb cover has been accepted by the vendor.

  • Replacements will be sent directly to your home. I will plan to pick up the defective pieces at your convenience.

  • No further word regarding the delivery of the tables. They have shipped, but there isn’t a tracking number available - I interpret that as they are sitting in a container somewhere. When there is additional information, I’ll follow up.

Week of April 12 notifications:

  • Replacement lighting items tracking number

  • Received replacement globe

Week of April 19 notifications:

Week of April 26 notifications:

  • Notice from Amanda that replacements for lights are received and in good shape

  • Received notice that tables were in “ship scheduled” from the vendor. No tracking provided as of yet. Would hope that all items would be received within 30 days.

Week of May 3 notifications:

  • Replacement chests personally inspected and approved. Tables have been updated to “shipped” status by the vendor, but no tracking information has been provided. That leads me to believe they are sitting on a dock waiting for a bill of lading change. I will update as information is available

Week of May 10 notifications:

  • No change in status. No new information. I communicated with the local receiving company and shared my most updated product information from them to be on the lookout for a change of status as they will be alerted before I will be that a truck is heading their way.

Week of May 17 notifications:

  • All products received and approved. Final walk through scheduled and completed.

Thank you for working with RLP interiors for your design project!
